Join The Stuckenhoff Complex For A Day Of Gun Safety Education
In my family, firearms were an essential part of our way of life. My dad is a retired police officer and always made it a priority that we were comfortable being around guns. Hunting and shooting is a way for us to share memories and spend time together.
In Wyoming, seeing a gun is as common as seeing an antelope; they're everywhere. We are an open-carry state, which means anyone over the age of 18 can openly carry a firearm.
Now, just because you can doesn't mean that everyone should, especially if you're unsure of how to handle, operate, and treat a gun. Gun safety is an important part of being a responsible gun owner, and the younger you learn that the better off you'll be.
If someone says that they are scared of guns, the likelihood is that they've never learned adequately about guns or gun safety. Over the last few years, there have been stories of young people who have been shot because of the lack of gun safety.
There's a solution to the lack of gun safety and knowledge that the Stuckenhoff Shooting Complex in Casper is offering. It's Family Firearm Safety Day on June 14 at the complex near the landfill north of Casper.
There will be plenty of time for your family to get involved. There will be safety courses at the top and bottom of every hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The course will last approximately 25 minutes and will be led by an NRA instructor. Upon completing the safety course, you'll receive a safety card and get to put your newly learned gun safety to use.
Every kid that passes the course, thanks to donations from the community, will get to go out on the shooting range and shoot up to 100 rounds for free. If you don't have a firearm already, never fear; there will be guns available to use for free.
