Here Is Great Labor Day Weekend Advice For Wyoming
On graduation day, my dad's words of advice were...
"Do the watermelon crawl."
Those are four words that drinkers in Wyoming need to learn, and with the long Labor Day weekend upon us, you had better learn them quickly.
Drunk drivers have put Wyoming into the top 5 on a list, and we shouldn't be proud—States with the most drinking and driving.
Wyoming is only behind Montana and South Dakota for receiving the worst score for drunk driving in the country.
Sure, we're likely so high on the list because the population isn't huge here, but it's not good, no matter how you look.
Wyoming scored a 77.10.
Here is a breakdown of how Zutobi got that score.
They calculated the DUI Severity Score by creating a normalized score out of ten on the factors.
- DUI arrests per 100,000 drivers: 512.85
- DUI road fatalities per 100,000 drivers: 9.2614
- DUI road fatality ratio: 0.2985
Then, a final average score across all factors will be taken to discover the overall score for each state.
Another chilling factor is that in the same year (2022) that these numbers were figured, Wyoming had 33 fatal drunk driving accidents.
You probably won't be shocked when you read that men are 300% more likely to be involved in a deadly drunk driving accident than women. 29 of 33 were men.
Nationwide, that year, there were 9,709 lives. 7,852 men and 1,857 women.
If you're arrested for DUI in Wyoming, it's an offense you could have to pay big money and could even spend time in jail or lose your license.
Have a designated driver, know the numbers of local cab companies, get an Uber, or take advantage of the phone-a-friend option.
Have a safe and happy weekend.
