Your Chance To Shape History In Wyoming’s South Pass City
If working in one of Wyoming's most historic places is on your bucket list, listen up. The historic gold mining town of South Pass City is looking for the next person to take care of her.
The history goes back to before Wyoming was a state. Even though Gold South Pass City was known for gold, there's so much more, and you will be a big part of the ongoing history.
You could almost consider yourself the mayor of the town. Mayor, street commissioner, janitor, groundskeeper, snow removal technician, building maintenance worker, equipment operator, developer, and well, any other duty needed. Sure, it sounds like a lot, but you're getting paid to live in a place where people changed their lives.
The Park Maintenance Technician at South Pass City State Historic Site plays a key role in preserving and maintaining one of Wyoming’s most distinctive heritage properties.
South Pass City is a 19th-century gold mining town turned historic landmark, featuring 45 historic and non-historic structures across 389 acres of rugged, high-altitude terrain.
This position requires a motivated, resourceful, and skilled individual who can balance historic preservation with modern facility management.
The work is diverse, ranging from hands-on restoration and trail maintenance to water system operations and public engagement. Candidates should enjoy working outdoors in a remote environment and take pride in maintaining sites of historical significance.
If this job sounds like it's right up your alley, don't wait, because you may lose out on your opportunity. If you'd like to throw your hat in the ring, you can see the job description and fill out an application HERE.
