The 4A Girls State Basketball Tournament had some unexpected turns in Casper last week. Cody was the tournament favorite but lost to Sheridan in the semi-final when star player Molly Hays went down with a knee injury. Cheyenne East was looking for their 3rd state title in the last 4 years but they were defeated by Campbell County in the other semi-final game.

The Camels had beaten Sheridan 3 times this season but the Broncs turned the tables on Saturday posting a 65-56 win to finish the season 21-6. It was their first state title since 2007 and it wasn't an easy game by any stretch. Avery McMullen had a fantastic game for Sheridan with 17 points on 5-8 from the floor. Senior Alli Ligocki had 15 points and freshman Mesa Hanft had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Broncs also hit 10, 3-pointers in the game and shot 56% from the floor.

Campbell County received a stellar effort from Cami Curtis who went 9-16 from the floor en route to 26 points, Kaylie Neary has been a stand-out this season for the Camels and rang up 14 points on 5-12 from the field. Campbell County wrapped up the season 20-7.
