The winter of 2025/26 in Wyoming and the other Western states had only one season. Winter slammed the rest of the northern hemisphere, worldwide, but skipped the west due to a high-pressure system parked over the area.

But did you know that Wyoming actually has 12 seasons? Not 4 like everyone else, but 12. Let's count them down.

1. Winter. But don't confuse winter with an Arctic blast that we might get. That's just the weather that Canada sent our way.

2. Arctic Freeze. That's the blast I was just talking about. It is capable of hitting us at any time, year-round.

3. Second Winter. That first winter was just a practice.

4. Spring Deception. When winter pretends to end, but then here it comes again. It is a major fakeout.

5. Semi Truck Tipping Season. Ask any trucker. It is the windiest time of the year, and that wind is not screwing around.

6. Sprinter. It is not winter, but it is not spring. This is when the weather fools us a second time into thinking that it's all over, but here it comes again.

7. Actual Spring. (Lasts two weeks at most). But don't trust it.

8. Construction Season. This refers to buildings as well as road construction.

9. Torrential Downpour. But we won't complain because Wyoming is a dry state, and we need the rain.

10. Hail Season. This occurs during Cheyenne Frontier Days. Wyoming has an area that is called HAIL ALLEY. For some odd reason, some solar panel farms are being built out there.

11. Summer. For the most part, Wyoming has some wonderful summers.

12. Prewinter Snowfall. That will happen around September. But it can happen earlier. We never know. It's just Canada testing its snow machine.

A Little Wyoming School House Preserved In Time

The little hamlet of Slater Wyoming has preserved on of their last two remaining buildings with all the love they feel for it.

There was once a tiny town on this spot.

Most everything is gone except the schoolhouse and the community building.

I stopped by one Saturday morning and the locals were more than happy to let us in to have a look.
