Cheyenne Mother Accused of Slapping Her 2-Year-Old in the Face
A 31-year-old Cheyenne woman is behind bars after allegedly slapping her husband and 2-year-old child.
According to a booking sheet, it all started around 8:13 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, after a deputy with the Laramie County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a physical domestic call.
The deputy says Bertha "Betty" Loya-Martinez hit her husband with an open palm on the arm and hit her 2-year-old child with an open palm in the face.
Loya-Martinez was subsequently arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on charges of felony child abuse and felony domestic battery.
As of noon Tuesday, Loya-Martinez had yet to be formally charged.
NOV. 29 UPDATE:
Loya-Martinez made her initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court Wednesday morning on a misdemeanor charge of unlawful contact-touch.
Her bond was set at $1,000 cash and her arraignment was scheduled for Jan. 3 at 9 a.m.
