New UW President Working On Building Transparency, Trust
Brigadier General Shane Reeves, who will take over as the new President of the University of Wyoming in July, says he's working on "building a team' to lead the university and is looking to going around the state meeting Wyoming residents.
Reeves made the comments in an interview that aired on the ''Weekend In Wyoming" program this past Saturday on a.m. 650, KGAB. You can hear that interview in the audio file attached to the article below.
In the interview, Reeves said his first task is to build a team. ''And when I talk about building a team, I'm really talking about building an internal team that is going to help the University accelerate all of the things it's doing so well now."
He says he is looking for people who are "competent, and have an innovative aspect to them, but who most importantly are collegial. I'm not really interested in a lot of drama, I'm not interested in people being territorial.... I'm looking for them to be responsive. Not just to me, but to the entire community."
Reeves says that ties into one of his main goals. ''Which is something I really want to emphasize, which is a lot of communication." He says he wants to build transparency and trust with the public "both within the community, both internally, and more broadly across the state."
Reeves "Can't Wait" To Get Out And Meet Wyoming Residents
Along those lines, Reeves says he is looking forward to getting out into the state and meeting the residents of Wyoming. ''I'm really excited by this idea. I cannot wait to get out and just meet people...every county matters.
