For the last 10 years, Massey Ferguson has held the Sowing Good Deeds Contest at PRCA-sanctioned rodeos across the country.

In recognition of the vital role PRCA-sanctioned rodeos play in supporting local, regional, and national charities, this program shines a spotlight on rodeo committees across the country who are making a meaningful difference in their communities.

Each year, five finalists are selected from dozens of nominations, and one outstanding committee is awarded a 4700 Global Series Utility Tractors —a symbol of our commitment to straightforward, dependable equipment that works as hard as they do. The winning rodeo committee is announced at the PRCA Gala during the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There are multiple phases of the contest, and phase one is the nomination period. It is now running and will run until October 15.

Contest Details

  • Open to all PRCA-sanctioned rodeo committees, regardless of size.
  • Participating rodeo committees must apply to the Sowing Good Deeds program and meet the criteria set forth in the official rules.
  • Participating rodeos will receive a Hesston by Massey Ferguson Sowing Good Deeds banner to hang in their arena.

Tom Glause, CEO of the PRCA, says PRCA-sanctioned rodeos raise millions of dollars for communities across the US.

Our collaboration with Massey Ferguson’s Sowing Good Deeds program provides a meaningful platform to recognize and reward the outstanding charitable work of our committees. With more than 600 committees nationwide, we are immensely proud of their unwavering commitment to historic traditions and the rural communities they serve.

How to Enter the Contest

Entering the Sowing Good Deeds contest is simple. During the contest entry period, a representative from your PRCA Rodeo Committee may submit one entry on the committee's behalf.

  • When filling out the form, you’ll be asked to provide:
  • Your PRCA Rodeo Committee’s name and city
  • The name and contact information of the committee representative submitting the entry
  • Three short essays that share your committee’s story. Each essay should focus on one of the themes below:
    • Community Impact - Tell how your rodeo committee supports and gives back to your community. Share examples such as volunteer work, community programs, fundraising efforts, or other local projects.
    • Innovation - Describe how your committee brings new ideas or an entrepreneurial spirit to your nonprofit work. What changes or initiatives have you introduced, and what positive results came from them
    • Overcoming Challenges - Share a challenge your committee has faced and how you worked through it together. Tell us how you adapted, recovered, and became a stronger, more sustainable organization as a result.

Wyoming Honor Farm Wild Horse Program

Just outside of Riverton, inmates and horses have been working together since 1988. Inmate trainers work to make horses and wild burros gentle and catchable. They will put halters on the horses and begin to ride some of them, which are then available for adoption throoughout the year.
