Wyoming is the Cowboy State, so there's no doubt in your mind that some of the most "Cowboy" towns in the country are in this state, right?

What makes a town a "Cowboy Town"?

  • Well, I'd say first off, there needs to be cowboys who live there.
  • Ranching needs to be one of the community's main industries.
  • There have to be horses.
  • You get more "Cowboy Town" points if you have a wild-west history. Along with historic buildings and landmarks that still stand and are in use.
  • Have at least one rodeo throughout the year, bonus points for multiple rodeos.
  • There's a bar/ saloon where the locals can blow off some steam at the end of a tough day, or week.

As soon as you started reading those, there were a few Wyoming towns that popped into your mind, wasn't there? Some of the ones that came to my mind are:

  • Buffalo
  • Kaycee
  • Sheridan
  • Cody
  • Dubois
  • Pinedale
  • Ten Sleep
  • Casper
  • Cheyenne
  • Jackson

A social media account titled U.S.A. claims to be the most patriotic page in America and has compiled the Top 10 Cowboy Towns in the U.S.A. Obviously, Wyoming made the list, and it actually has 3 of the 10. Texas is the only other state with more than one spot, and they only claimed 2.

The three Wyoming "Cowboy Towns" that made it are Jackson, Cheyenne, and Cody.

Wyoming also landed 2 of the Top 10 Rodeo Towns in the USA, with Cheyenne and Cody grabbing a spot.

It's nice to see Wyoming getting love for things we SHOULD be getting love for, like being one of the 10 most beautiful states in the country.
