NWS: Winter Storm Warning for Western Wyoming
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for parts of western Wyoming, where up to 20 inches of new snow could be deposited in the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountain Ranges.
Meanwhile, Jackson, Afton, Alpine, Star Valley Ranch and Thayne could see five to 10 inches of accumulation, with the heaviest snow expected from late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. Wind gusts could reach 35 mph.
The Upper Green River Basin Foothills, including Pinedale, could see four to eight inches of snow, with the highest amounts expected near Bondurant.
Travel could be very difficult in western Wyoming as a result of the storm. Parts of eastern Idaho will likely also see travel impacts.
In Wyoming, the winter storm warning is in effect from 6 a.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday.
Yellowstone National Park is expected to see seven to 14 inches of accumulation, with winds gusting up to 50 mph. Again, the heaviest snowfall will likely occur from Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday's evening, tapering off Thursday morning.
The Salt River and Wyoming Ranges, as well as the western Wind River Range, will likewise see seven to 14 inches of snow accumulation. In the Wind River Range, winds could gust up to 55 mph.
