Shania Twain continues to score.  She's riding a hit show on the Oprah Winfrey Network.  She's written a best-selling memoir.  Now she's going to put the cherry on top of the sundae by releasing her first new music in over six years.  For many of us, that's six years too long.

You'll first hear the new single, Today Is Your Day on the last episode of Why Not? With Shania Twain. That show will air this Sunday, June 12th.  Immediately afterward, the song will be offered exclusively on iTunes.  Then (lucky us) it will be shipped to radio.

Today Is Your Day is the first song that Shania has written on her own in that six year time span.  The process of returning to music has been an exhausting one for Shania.  She was forced to deal with the break up of her marriage, in which her husband, legendary music producer, Jeff 'Mutt' Lange (who guided Shania to superstardom) engaged in an affair with a family friend.  She would then take it upon herself to raise her young son as a single mom and be left to wonder if she would ever again feel love and music in her heart.

Shania's docu-series on OWN chronicles these events and how she has managed to rediscover music and find herself again.  On this last episode, she shares in a duet with Lionel Richie and marries the man who helped her through all of the crises, Frederic Thiebaud.
