United Blood Services in Casper and Cheyenne are asking the community to help ensure the shelves are stocked this summer with the Starve a Mosquito – Blood Drive Challenge and wants to see 250 blood donations by August 31, 2015.

“Every summer, United Blood Services feels the impact of many regular blood donors going on vacation or traveling. But the need for blood never goes away,” said Jennifer Bredahl, Regional Donor Recruitment Director. “It’s critical that we maintain a strong blood supply and are asking for your help.”

To ensure that the shelves are stocked this summer, United Blood Services is challenging the community to help by donating 250 blood donations in the blood center on East 2nd St. in Casper or at 112 E 8th Ave. in Cheyenne, now through August 31, 2015.

“We are calling it the Starve a Mosquito – Blood Drive Challenge and encourage those who have never donated before to try now to help us in this fun but critical community challenge,” said Bredahl.

Donors will also have a chance to win a trip for two to Hawaii in the summer long promotion “Fly Away a Hero – Donate Blood”. Across the region, over 550 blood products are needed each day to serve patients in 115 hospitals.

To make an appointment please call 877-827-4376 or go to www.UnitedBloodServices.org.

To save time, donors can now fill out their Health History Questionnaire online at www.UnitedBloodServices.org the day of their donation. To donate blood, volunteers must be at least 16 years old (16 year old donors need a minor donor permit which is available online) and be in good health. Must be 18 years or older to win prize package. Offer applies to participating United Blood Services blood centers and mobile blood drives operated out of Bismarck, Fargo, Minot, ND, Aberdeen, Mitchell, Rapid City, SD, Casper, and Cheyenne, WY.
