Taylor Swift Up for Role in New ‘Les Miserables’ Film
According to reports, Taylor Swift is on a list of females potentially suited to fill the role of Eponine in the new big screen adaptation of ‘Les Miserables,’ as directed by Oscar winner Tom Hooper. A source close to the film claims that Swift has even auditioned already.
Just because the ‘Mean’ singer’s big name is in the hat doesn’t mean she’s a shoe-in, though — Swift is up against seasoned actresses Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood, as well as ‘Glee‘ famer Lea Michele, for the part. Michele already has a leg up on the competition, being that she portrayed Young Cosette in ‘Les Miserables’ on Broadway, and an unnamed source says she “knocked it out of the park” during her audition for the flick.
Added the source, “Scarlett brings acting ability, and she can really sing,” while “Evan Rachel Wood brings her indie cred.” Should Swift be asked to sign on to the script, she may feel right at home on a movie set, given the heavy theatrics involved in her recent live concerts.
Many other parts in the ‘Les Miserables’ film have already been filled; the roster includes Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne and Geoffrey Rush, among others.
