The One Wyoming City That Ranked Better Than Casper
For me, one of the highlights of living in Wyoming is the low population numbers.
I think most people would agree with that.
Our overall state population, at just under 600,000, is smaller than the population of 80 cities in the U.S.
That's impressive, and I wouldn't want it any other way. The low population gives us the wide-open spaces that we all love.
Another interesting fact about Wyoming is we only have 11 cities with over 10,000 citizens.
What makes a city?
According to Wyoleg.gov:
First class city" means any incorporated
municipality having a population of four thousand (4,000) or more which has been declared a first class city or which has taken the necessary steps to be and has been proclaimed a first class city
Wyoming's cities range from just over 10,000 to just over 65,000 people.
- 10,000 - 11,000 Cody, Jackson, and Riverton
- 11,000 - 12,000 Green River and Evanston
- 19,543 in Sheridan.
- 22,954 in Rock Springs
- 30,000 - 40,000 for Laramie and Gillette
- Just under 60,000 in Casper
- Just over 65,000 in Cheyenne
The YouTube Channel From Here To There ranked our eleven 10,000+ cities from worst to best. Their rankings will likely offend some, and some will agree.
When describing each of the 11 cities, they try to highlight its finer parts. However, this approach sometimes comes across as a little harsh.
