United Way Of Natrona County Turns 71 With A Community BBQ
Natrona County is one of the most generous counties I've ever lived in. Always supporting organizations that are making an impact in the community, whether it's for Wyoming veterans, feeding families, caring for the elderly, or taking care of children. Natrona County shows up to help.
Wyoming as a whole has thousands of nonprofits, and in Natrona County alone, there are hundreds of 501 (c) (3) organizations, and 71 years ago, in 1955, one organization was started to ensure that as many of those organizations as possible were cared for and funded.
When that organization began, it was known as the United Fund of Casper, INC, and in 1955, they collected and distributed $96,000. Not bad for a first-year organization, right?
Today, the organization is known as the United Way of Natrona County and collects and distributes well over $900,000. Yep, just under $1 million to help a number of charities continue their missions.
To celebrate those 71 years of giving, the United Way of Natrona County is throwing a birthday party on August 3, and everyone in the community is invited to attend. The party will be held at Crossroads Park in Casper from 12 p.m. to 3 pm.
The free community celebration will feature a BBQ lunch, birthday cake, lawn games, cornhole, and plenty of family-friendly fun as United Way celebrates more than seven decades of serving Natrona County. Community members, volunteers, partner agencies, donors, and supporters are all invited to join the celebration.
In a press release, Executive Director Annie Sorensen expressed her gratitude to the community.
This celebration is an opportunity to thank the volunteers, donors, partner agencies, businesses, and community
members who have made our work possible over the past 71 years. Together, we've built hope, created opportunity, and strengthened our community—and we're excited to celebrate that legacy while looking ahead to the future.
Mark your calendar for a Monday afternoon BBQ on August 3.
