Viet Nam War Veterans got a proper welcome home this weekend in the Oil City. I had the honor and pleasure of being part of the ceremonies and meeting many of our Veterans.

I met James and Paul Friday morning at the Casper Events Center. They were both excited about the weekend, catching up with old war buddies and accepting the welcome home that would follow in the weekend events.

There were representatives from Rawlins, Riverton, Evanston and all other cities and towns around Wyoming. I also met Lee Alley, who had a big hand in organizing the weekends events.

There were two gentlemen from Glenrock, that were gracious with their time and grateful that they were all getting the thanks and welcome home the soldiers all longed to receive.

I shed so many tears just watching the love, hugs and memories shared by all the military members, regardless of the military branch they served.

Rev. Bill Pierce, a Casper Native and three time Purple Heart recipient, delivered some strong powerful words at the Memorial Service held for all the Wyomingites that gave their lives in the conflict.

It was an amazing weekend for me. I think many of the Veterans can now let go of the feeling they had coming back from war. It was a beautiful ceremony to behold.

Thanks to Governor Matt Mead, Joe Galloway, and "Smokey" for allowing us some interview time too.

See some of the Viet Nam Veterans Parade. Do you see yourself, or someone you know?
