What’s The First Thing Wyoming Does When It Gets Warm?
When it gets too hot, we complain. When it's too cold and snowy, we complain.
Why is that?
It's because we're all complainers. Always have been, and always will be. We all know those people that say they don't complain, because it doesn't do any good. Then they walk outside and start complaining about the weather, the sun's in their eyes and the wind is messing up their hair.
Complaining is really something that's passed down from generation to generation. In your grandparents hey day, there wasn't much to complain about other than your aches & pains, the mail running late, having to walk up hill to school in 5ft snow drifts, the rain stopping you from planting your garden and it being too hot in the summer.
Humans seem to be built to complain. Psychology Today says that most people complain about things we are powerless against and don't have control to change. Work, other people, gas & food prices and the weather are all things we have no power to change and certainly can't control, so we it's only natural we complain about them.
Until the 1990's, there was no option of going on the internet and telling people how horrible the service at a restaurant was or how you feel about a certain topic. Now, people feel that everyone wants to know what you are complaining about, so you put it on Facebook.
It's interesting that people can predict when and where complaints will come, and that's especially true with the weather.
Winter has been rough in Wyoming this year, with no signs of spring for the foreseeable future. Cold temperatures, heavy snow and the dreaded 'W', have all kept us with snow shovels in hand, coats, hats and boots on.
I Thought it would be a fun idea to ask what people will do as soon as the warm weather comes back? I got some great answers and some of the best were an admission to complaining.
Some of the other answers we got are along the lines we're all thinking:
- Riding Motorcycles
- Head to the lake
- Go Fishing
- Put Flip-Flops on
- Open the windows
- Enjoy every minutes of it
- Softball Games
- Play in dirt
- Smell the roses
- Put the shovel away
- Float the river
- Bailing hay
- Move cattle
- Take the long john's off
Thinking warm thoughts isn't going to bring the warmth, but maybe it'll put you in a good frame of mind.
