The National Weather Service has increased its predicted snow accumulation total for Casper as a strong cold front is expected to sweep across the state on Wednesday.

According to a winter weather advisory issued early Tuesday, the weather service predicts four to six inches of snow will pile up in the lower elevations of Natrona County, including Casper, from 5 a.m. Wednesday through 11 a.m. Thursday.

Travel could become very difficult, with hazardous conditions possibly impacting the morning or evening commute.

Casper Mountain, meanwhile, could see three to eight inches of new snow with winds gusting up to 45 mph. The mountain is under a winter storm watch along with the southeast Wind River Mountains.

South Pass, the Lander Foothills, Green Mountains and Rattlesnake Range are also included in the winter storm watch, which goes into effect late Tuesday night.
