Blame the pandemic and the Suez Canal blockage. Just as spring is arriving America is suffering from a Garden Gnome Shortage.

Well heck, 2021 is now shaping up to be worse than 2020.

Things have been bad enough with the pandemic leaving us short on everything from toilet paper to aluminum cans and even pepperoni. OH YES - Pepperoni is in short supply too.

Since people have been stuck at home with not much to do, they have been taking care of the gardens. That is a good thing. But that has also contributed to the gnome shortage.

"While garden gnomes are not top of everyone's list, gardening has been very popular during the lockdown," explained Iain Wylie, chief executive of the Garden Center Association, "and correspondingly we've had difficult times where supply chains have been under pressure." (Southwest News Service reports).

If you want to plant a garden, those supplies are on hand and ready to go. It's the fun stuff you like to decorate your gardens with that are hard to find, at the moment.

I have to admit when I first heard of this story I was afraid that the pandemic had hit the gnome population, or maybe they were in the midst of a gnome war. Maybe they just needed to get busy making more babies. Who knows.

I had seen this picture of a T-Rex eating a bunch of gnomes- I didn't even know they had predators

Honestly, if I were to buy a few of those things I would not know how to take care of it. Do I need to let them in at night? What do they eat? Do they just take care of themselves?

FEAR NOT! More are being made and they will be in your stores by fall, just when you don't need them anymore.

Wyoming Spring Fever

Enough of Winter. We want to see some spring.
