Attention Hunters: Leftover Tags Are Up For Grabs In Wyoming
Did you miss out on a tag in this year's big game draw? You have time to get in for the leftover draw, but you better hurry.
The application period is open now through Friday, June 27, and you're only allowed to apply online at wgfd.wyo.gov
There's one major factor to consider when applying.
Do you have access? One of the aspects of obtaining a license that many don't consider is where you will be able to hunt. If you check the availability list, you'll notice that there may be hunt areas with quite a few licenses available, but the problem is that there's not a lot of public access in that particular area.
For instance, if you're looking to hunt deer, there's only one area with available licenses that may give you a chance to have public access. If you don't know, or have permission from the landowner, you're likely out of luck.
If you're looking to hunt elk, again, there are quite a few available, but access is an issue.
When searching for an open license, it's also important to consider the license type. There are many types of licenses available. Make sure the license you're applying for is available for the dates you're able to hunt.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department website has an easy way for you to check the number and area of leftover licenses. There is a drop-down feature that allows you to select the type of animal you want to hunt.
When you select the species you'd like to hunt, the complete list of hunt areas, types of licenses, and the number of available licenses will be shown for every area.
