Bear Found in Dumpster of Colorado Restaurant
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has discovered a sick, 400-pound bear in the unlocked dumpster of a Woodland Park restaurant.
According to a tweet from CPW, officials have tranquilized the animal and are currently assessing its health.
The incident serves as another reminder that garbage (and bird seed) can be deadly to bears.
Human and bear interactions are also on the rise right now, as drought conditions are forcing the animals out of the mountains and into our neighborhoods.
In order to avoid harmful encounters with bears, CPW recommends securing your trash, getting rid of your bird feeders, and keep your garage closed.
