Bret Michaels is coming to the Casper Event Center on November 6th to kick off his multi-city Hometown Heros Tour.

Part of the purpose of this tour is to take time to honor heroes in every city where Bret Michaels performs. The lineup for the event includes artists from several genres and will be a night to remember for not only the crowd but for five community members that have been nominated by friends and/or family. Here is what Bret Michaels said about the experience.

While on tour, every night I bring local heroes up on-stage to honor them during the show and we’ll continue to do so at these shows.  It’s important to me that we recognize veterans, first responders, teachers and people who are making a difference in their communities.

Chris Atencio was nominated by his girlfriend Shelia. In her nomination letter she wrote,

I am nominating Chris because he enlisted in the Army when he was 18 and served 13 years. After 6 years in, he earned rank as a Staff Sargeant. He was awarded many good conduct medals including; Army Commendation, Army Achievement, Army Overseas Service, Bronze Star, National Defense, Global war on terrorism, Afghanistan campaign medal, Iraq campaign medal, Army Presidential unit citation, and Army meritorious unit citation.

She went on to say that Chirs is an avid outdoorsman and great dad.

Listen to Chirs talk about his experiences overseas in Afghanistan that lead him to be awarded the Bronze Star.

We loved that he was trying to buy the tickets to the event and his girlfriend had to keep on talking him out of it.

Based on all of the honors he has received, I'd be willing to bet there is a lot more to Chris' overseas service than what he was able to share with us.

His humility and references to all the other men and women he served with are yet another example of why Chris deserves to be a hometown hero.
