Firefighters rescued an unconscious man from a burning trailer home early this morning in east Casper, according to a news release from the Casper Fire-EMS Department.

At 2:52 a.m., fire crews responded to the residence at 111 N. Forest Drive where they found it on fire and filled with smoke.

Initial reports stated a male occupant may have been in the home.

Fire crews quickly put out the fire and looked for the reported occupant.

They found him unresponsive, but breathing.

He was taken to the Wyoming Medical Center for treatment.

His condition was unknown early Saturday, but the initial prognosis was hopeful.

There was extensive smoke damage through the entire home and it will likely be a complete loss.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.

The Casper Fire-EMS Department reminds citizen that working smoke alarms save lives.

  • Smoke alarms should be located on every floor of your home (including the basement), inside every bedroom, and outside each sleeping area.
  • Smoke alarms should be checked monthly (using the test button) to ensure they are working.
