If you've driven on McKinley Street in Casper and noticed a significant construction project at Washington Park, you may be wondering what's going on. The City of Casper is improving and updating the park's facilities.

The three-phase project has been in the works since late 2022 and is in progress, as you can see when you drive by the park. The changes and updates will be a major benefit to anyone using the park and will offer more options for outdoor recreation.

Phase 1:

  • New lighting was installed on the baseball field.
  • The old South tennis courts were demolished and converted into eight new Pickleball courts. They will be completed in the spring of 2026.
  • The North tennis courts will be demolished and turned into a new, larger parking lot.
  • Trees and shrubs that were in the way of the new construction area, or were obstructing walkways & paths, were removed.
  • Both the men's and women's bathrooms were overhauled. All of the toilets, sinks, and hand dryers were updated.

Phase 2:

  • Earthwork and grading are in progress to allow for the construction of six new tennis courts.
  • Shelter #3 was removed to make way for the new courts.

Phase 3:

  • The Washington Park Bandshell will receive improvements and remodeling.

If you'd like to see the improvements that have already been made and stay updated on the next round of improvements, the City of Casper's website has multiple before-and-after photos for you to view.

It's exciting to see Casper putting the time and effort into revitalizing a space in the heart of the city for families to enjoy by recreating, picking up new hobbies, and relaxing while listening to upcoming concerts.
