Casper Veterans Day Remembrance 11/11/2012

Cecil V. Barnes, President of the Natrona County United Veterans Council announced that
Veterans Day will be observed on Sunday, 11 November, beginning at 11:00 a.m.The observance will be at the Chapel at the Oregon Trail Wyoming State Veterans Cemetery.
The speaker for this year is Sen. Mike Enzi. Sen. Enzi grew up in Thermopolis, Wyoming after his father's return from military duty on the Pacific Coast.  He attended elementary school in Thermopolis and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1962.  He is an Eagle Scout and
a recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.  He received a  degree in accounting from George Washington University in Washington D.C., in 1966.  He received an M.B.A. in retail marketing from the University of Denver in 1968.  He also served in the Wyoming Air National Guard from 1967 to 1973.  On June 7, 1969, he married the former Diana Buckley; the couple has two daughters, Amy and Emily, and a son, Brad.
Sen. Enzi was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996 and was re-elected in 2002 and 2008.  He has been ranked as one of the most conservative members of the Senate.  He is the ranking Republican on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, which he
chaired from 2005 to 2007.
Other participants in this year's program include Chaplain Michael Stedillie who will render the Invocation and Benediction at the ceremony.  The Honor Guard will be provided by the Casper NCHS  JROTC, and the National Anthem will be sung by Ms. Mersadis Berella.  The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Cecil V. Barnes, President of the Natrona County United Veterans Council.  At the conclusion of the program, Taps will be sounded by Robert D. Meloy.
The public as well as all active duty and retired military and all other veterans are urged to attend this patriotic event to show support for our military men and women still engaged in war for our
country.  Also, all patriotic citizens who do not continuously fly their American flags are urged to fly theirs on Veterans Day.
