It's said that a person dies twice. Once when their life ends, and the other is the last time that their name is ever mentioned. There are men and women in Natrona County who served our country whose memory lives on when a wreath is laid on their graves.

Wreaths Across America began when Morrill Worcester visited Washington, DC, as a 12-year-old boy. While there, he saw the graves of hundreds of thousands of graves and the tomb of the unknown soldier, and it made an impact on his life. Worcester went on to become the owner of Worcester Wreaths in Maine, and in 1992, he had many leftover wreaths at the end of the holiday season. Remembering his trip to DC, he made arrangements for the leftover wreaths to be placed in Arlington National Cemetery.

That small gesture over 30 years ago has evolved into more than 4 million wreaths being laid on the graves of veterans across the country, including right here in Casper, Wyoming. Not only will a wreath be laid on the veteran's grave, but also to keep their memory alive, their name will be recited.

This year's wreath-laying ceremony will be on Saturday, December 13, across Casper with the many different fundraising organizations. Everyone is welcome to be a part of the wreath-laying ceremonies.
