The College National Finals Rodeo concluded on Saturday at the Ford Center in Casper and once again, the Wyoming contingent faired quite well. On the ladies' side, Laramie native McKenna Clngman who competes for Colorado Mesa won the National Championship in the goat tying with a 6 and 7 in the short go. She is a 4-time CNFR qualifier and finally earned the championship buckle. Yoder's Haiden Thompson who competes for Gillette College was 3rd in the goat tying and Sheridan's Tavy Leno or Montana Western was 12th.

In the barrel racing, Rayne Grant of Wheatland who rides for LCCC in Cheyenne was 5th in this event but also was 2nd in the women's all-around. Needless to say, she had a strong week in Casper.  Ashlyn Goven of Rozet who is in the Gillette College team was 19th and Haiden Thompson from Gillette College was 22nd.

In the breakaway roping. Staheli Adams from Gillette College took 19th, McKenna Clingman of Colorado Mesa was 24th and Olivia Lay of the University of Wyoming took 25th

On the men's side, Weston Timberman of Clarendon College in Texas repeated as the national champion in the bareback and it wasn't even close. He posted rides of 80,81,81.5 and 79 to earn the buckle and is the nephew of Mills, Wyoming native Kelly Timberman who won the PRCA world championship in the bareback in 2004. Cooper Filipek of Gillette College took 2nd in this event. Roady Farrell of Thermopolis who competes for Tarleton State was 4th in the average. Farrell was a 3-time state wrestling champion for Thermopolis.

In the saddle bronc, Rock Springs native Ira Dickinson of Tarleton narrowly missed out on a national championship as he was 1.5 points off the lead in the average. James Perrin of Casper College was 4th in the average and his teammate Talon Elshere 5th.

Talon's brother Thayne who rides for Gillette College was 11th in the bullriding but ended 5th in the all-around. Bodie Mattson of the University of Wyoming was 20th in the tie-down roping. David Gallager from UW placed 15th in the steer wrestling and the team roping pair of Quincy Reynolds of UW along with Trevor Sorge of Gillette College placed 9th.

In the men's team standings, Casper College placed 6th, Gillette College 8th and UW was 15th. We have some photos to pass along from the championship go at the Ford Center and they can be located in our gallery below. Enjoy!
