Wyoming Shrine Bowl Executive Director Frank Selby revealed that Big Horn's Kirk McLaughlin and Star Valley's McKay Young are the two head coaches for the 2023 Wyoming Shrine Bowl.

Selby made the announcement via a press release on Monday night. The coaches were nominated by their peers, and from those nominations, one head coach for the North Team and one for the South Team were selected.

McLaughlin will coach the North Team, and Young will coach the South Team.

Both coaches guided their high school teams to state championships in 2A and 3A last fall.

The two head coaches will start assembling their coaching staff over the next few weeks. Once assistant coaches accept an invitation to be a part of the coaching staff, those two staffs will gather to collectively select players from nominations by head coaches across the state.

The 50th Wyoming Shrine Bowl will be on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from Harry Geldien Stadium at Kelly Walsh High School in Casper. The game is for graduated seniors only.

The North Team beat the South Team last year, 37-3, in the 49th edition of the Wyoming Shrine Bowl. The North leads the all-time series over the South, 26-19-3.
