The sixth set of rankings saw one new team enter each poll and no ties were part of the latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media Basketball Polls released on Wednesday. Laramie rejoined the girls’ rankings, while Little Snake River made its debut in the boys’ poll. One change at the top was in 3A boys, as Powell took the No. 1 spot by themselves.

The biggest difference in the girls’ poll was in Class 4A. Laramie moved back in at No. 5 after their road win at Cheyenne Central last Friday night. Cheyenne East remained at the top with 12 of the 16 first-place votes. The next two teams earned two first-place votes each. The Cody Filles held onto second. Campbell County climbed one spot to third. Sheridan fell to fourth.

In 3A girls, the top three were still Douglas, Buffalo, and Mountain View. The Bearcats received 14 of the 16 first-place votes. The only change was Powell was alone in fourth, which pushed Pinedale down to fifth.

There was no tie in the 2A girls’ poll. Tongue River remained No. 1. The Eagles got ten of the 13 first-place votes. Wyoming Indian stayed second. Sundance was alone in third this week. Lingle-Ft. Laramie slid out of last week’s tie for third and down to fourth. Rocky Mountain held the fifth spot.

Finally, in 1A girls, Cokeville was a unanimous choice for the top position. The Panthers received all 12 first-place votes. Upton and Southeast remained second and third. Little Snake River was fourth. Burlington dropped out of last week’s tie for fourth and down to fifth.

Class 1A boys had the biggest change in this week’s rankings. Little Snake River jumped into the poll for the first time this season at No. 5. They replaced Southeast, who fell out of the rankings. The top four in that division did not change. Upton was one vote shy of being a unanimous pick for the top spot. Saratoga was second. Cokeville stayed at third. Farson-Eden was fourth.

Tongue River climbed two spots in the 2A boys’ poll after their road win at Wright last weekend. Lingle-Ft. Laramie earned all but one first-place vote. The Doggers were 71 points in the voting ahead of the Eagles. Wyoming Indian held onto third. Wright fell two spots to fourth. Big Horn stayed fifth.

The Powell Panthers were alone at the top of the 3A boys’ rankings. The difference was one more first-place vote, eight-to-seven, than Douglas. The Bearcats were only three points behind in the voting. The teams that were three through five did not change. Lovell, Pinedale, and Thermopolis held their spots.

Finally, two teams traded spots in the 4A boys’ divisions. Cheyenne Central received 17 of the 18 first-place votes. Laramie remained second. Natrona County moved up to third, while Cheyenne East fell to fourth. Sheridan held at No. 5.
