The battle is definitely escalating between The Bellamy Brothers' camp and the Britney Spears' camp.

You may remember several weeks ago when I informed you that Howard and David were considering legal options against Britney Spears, claiming that her new single, Hold It Against Me, deliberately plagiarized  their 1979 hit, If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me.

Well...our friends over at TMZ are reporting that Britney's songwriter, Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald is mad and he's not going to take it anymore.  He's suing the brothers for saying that the song was a "rip-off."  He is also claiming that The Bellamy Brothers campaign was just "a publicity stunt aimed to increase their record sales...and to combat their dwindling relevance."

Gottwald is not only seeking damages for defamation, but wants a court order stating that the two songs have nothing to do with one another.

Here's the TMZ story, and again for your ears...a side by side comparison of the two songs in question.

C'mon...admit it.  There's something there.
