Regis Announces His Exit
Time for a little My Country entertainment news.
We're all...okay, "I'm" very sad to hear that a fixture in daytime TV is stepping down after nearly 28 years.
Regis Philbin announced Tuesday on LIVE! with Regis & Kelly, that this would indeed be his last year on the hit daytime talker.
No word on his future plans.
Regis, 79, has had many health issues in the past including a heart bypass operation and a hip replacement.
In the last few years with the help of "LIVE," Regis has become a pop-culture icon who also has hosted the wildly popular Who Wants To Be A Millionaire that began in 1999. That show led to huge ratings successes for ABC and was once broadcast 4 nights a week. Its daytime spin-off, hosted by Meredith Viera, continues to be a hit in syndication.
LIVE! with Regis & Kelly has brought in a lot of money for its parent company, Disney, who will now have to find a suitable replacement to play off of Kelly Ripa.
Might I suggest LIVE! with Cowboy Troy & Kelly. Kind of has a nice ring to it, don't ya think?
