Thank you, Darius Rucker!  You've just confirmed what I've always expected to be true.  I'm not the only one who loved the classic Country Television show, Hee Haw!

Darius recently sat down with the Montreal Gazette, and shared this little tidbit.

"I've always been a fan of country music since I was a kid growing up in the South," Rucker says. "I give all props to Hee Haw. There were three TV stations and, Saturday at 6, Hee Haw was my show. I watched it all the time."

The baritone rocker-turned-country singer says people forget how much good music there was on the weekly program. The list of guest performers included heavyweights like Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins, Dolly Parton, Lyle Lovett, Alan Jackson and dozens more.

"I think that's something people missed about Hee Haw," Rucker says. "People look at it as a novelty thing, but everybody who was a star in country music at the time was on it. It was a show where people got to see country music stars. Nowadays you have videos and 67 million TV channels. Back then, that was where you saw country music. I loved the schtick and the jokes were funny and I can still sing all those songs, but for me it was who was playing that week."

Ahh...vindication!  You can read the full article here.  And this one's for you, Darius.
