One advantage that Casper has over larger cities is it doesn't take long to get from one place to another in town. That's one reason why I was very surprised when I came across a website claiming the average commute time in Casper is 17 minutes.

The website is Best Places. It's a catch-all site rates the different aspects of what makes a city a great city. This includes the following:

  • Cost of Living
  • Real Estate
  • Job Market
  • Crime
  • Climate
  • School Ratings
  • Transportation

The list goes on. It's the transportation part is what caught my eye. According to their metrics, the average commute time in Casper is 17 minutes. Hmm. That seems long by Casper standards, but I have no doubt the person who calculated this is smarter than me.

The other stats they shared which were interesting to me were the 82% of people who drive by themselves compared to the 1% that use public transportation and the 3% that work from home.

The biggest negative for Casper according to Best Places? Isolation. Maybe it's time to make some more friends.
