We need to play more. That's not me talking, that's science. More accurately, it's a study that gave Wyoming a big fat F for how much recess we have.

The source of this wild recess claim is a bit curious. When you see the name, you'll understand what I'm talking about. It's the website Playground Equipment. Seriously. Say this out loud and see if it sounds funny to you. Playground Equipment doesn't think Wyoming has enough recess. Conflict of interest much?

In their defense, they even shared a really nifty map showing why Wyoming got a big fat F and the reason why.

If you can't read the tiny print, they dinged Wyoming for having "no laws or recommendations". For the record, my kids have had plenty of recess in Wyoming with no complaints and if anyone would complain about not playing enough, it's my children.

Playground Equipment isn't wrong about recess being a good thing. When I played dodgeball as a kid, I learned to never turn my back on anyone. You haven't felt pain until you've had one of those big rubber balls hit you in the back when you don't expect it.

Back to the question about whether or not Wyoming has enough recess, no laws or recommendations doesn't seem like a good enough reason to give us a big fat F in my book. But, it could be that I'm just bitter about that one bad dodgeball game in my past.
