The Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the Community Recreation Foundation are hosting the event this Saturday, June 7th. This also coincides with Free Fishing Day as the entire states water ways will be open for Free Fishing.  Anglers should be aware that all fishing restrictions and limits are being enforced, but you will not need to purchase a fishing license.

A big community fishing event will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Harry Yesness Pond at 4100 SW Wyoming Boulevard. The event is free and is for children ages 14 and under. It coincides with Free Fishing Day.

The Community Recreation Foundation will be hosting the 19th Annual Kids Fishing Day. The event is free for kids age 14 and under, accompanied by their parents.   Due to the popularity of this event and limited space, families with last names beginning with the letter N through Z fish from 9 am to 12:00 pm and families with last names beginning with the letter A through M fish from 12:00 to 3:00 pm.

Registration begins at event start time.  There will be goody bags for all fishing participants – no one leaves empty-handed!

Prior to the start of the Fishing Day, Yesness Pond will be stocked with over 1500 catchable sized trout.  If possible, participants should bring their own poles and lures/bait.  The North Platte Walleyes Unlimited Club will have a limited number of fishing poles at the event for those in need of gear and Sportsman’s Warehouse and Wyoming Fly Casters will supply bait and flies. A special donation comes in memory of Julia Barham.

Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions.   Parking spaces are limited; overflow parking can be found at Crest Hill Elementary School located at 4445 S. Poplar.  The Fishing Day is sponsored by the Community Recreation Foundation, in cooperation with, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, North Platte Walleyes Unlimited Fishing Club, Wyoming Fly Casters Club, Schwan’s Foods, and Sportsman’s Warehouse.
