Kicking off the 2013 leg of his Live in Overdrive tour, Toby Keith has announced that he won’t be meeting his loyal fan club members as much as he has in the past. Folks with Toby's tour are canceling all of his upcoming meet-and-greets, seemingly out of concern for his safety.

This is sad news for fans hoping to meet Toby at this year's Cheyenne Frontier Day's Concert Series.

“Due to current security concerns, ALL personal meet and greet requests for friends, family, and Fan Club members have been discontinued,” according to a post on the website theboot.com “Thank you for your understanding.”

But following the given link to Toby's website, I was unable to locate the information theboot.com was quoting?

But having been to several meet-and-greets backstage at Toby's shows, I could totally see how not only Toby's safety might be brought into question, but the safety of his fans as well.

Toby has long been supported by the Ford Motor Company and frequently will greet hundreds of admiring fans that work for local regional dealerships and their families.  Not to mention the hundreds of fan club members who apply online to win a chance to meet Toby backstage at his shows.

This might be the new trend by country music's mega-stars moving forward.  I feel sad for those fans attending Cheyenne Frontier Days and the many volunteers who would normally get a chance to get a photo and an autograph backstage from Toby.

Toby Keith is set to appear on the CFD main stage on Saturday, July 27th.

We will continue to follow this developing story as more details become available.

Without further explanation of Toby's canceling meet-and-greets, it leads us to speculate - Why??

I love finding my own very flawed theory and explaining things.  But we want to hear yours?

Why do you think Toby is canceling Meet and Greets with fans?
