This is a story is because a major winter event is NOT going to happen.

Wyoming will be grazed by a big snow event. But we are no longer in the bullseye.

What will hit Wyoming this week is in the forecast below.

Last week forecasters like Don Day of Day Weather, our regional weatherman, were wondering if a major snow event was heading for the cowboy state.

But this is April. This month, more than any other brings very unpredictable weather.

There were competing computer-generated weather models that showed a big storm coming.

So the forecasters like Don Day would not come right out and say if we were or were not about to get SLAMMED!

Not until Sunday's forecast anyway. That is when they were more sure of what was going to happen.

In the video below you'll hear Don Day explain it.

Just because the majority agree, does not mean it's true.

This was certainly the case here.

The one outlying weather model that disagreed with all the rest got it right.

So here is what's going to happen between late Monday and into Tuesday:

As we get into Monday evening, around after dinner time, look for cloudy skies and light rain.

That rain will become snow overnight.

Tuesday morning is a rain and snow mix.

A lot of this depends on where you are.

The upper northeast corner of Wyoming, in the Black Hills area, will get a heck of a lot more rain and snow than the rest of the state. That's okay, they need it.

The mountains of Wyoming will get a lot of snow. That's great news.

The bulk of the storm will stay to our north and east and slam the northern Midwest.

WHEW! Dodged a big one there.

Here are the details from Don Day.

73 Years Ago The Storm Of The Century Hit Wyoming

73 years ago, in 1949 the storm of the century hit the Western US. Here is a look at some pictures that tell the story...

Snow Crushes Wheatland, Wyoming Airplane Hangars

This row of hangars goes back many years. Some history was lost under a crush of snow.

March 21st, 2021. A record-breaking snowstorm had shut down most of Wyoming and was not yet done. Below is a gallery of photos as cleanup continues.

One of the small airports in Platte County, Wyoming is Phifer Airfield on Antelope Gap Road, east of Wheatland. Platte County has the Wheatland airport, along with one in Torrington and Guernsey. They were all shut down in the storm.

Special thanks to Grandpa Rich of Thermopolis Wyoming for these photos.

Each morning Grandpa drives up to check on the herd in Hot Springs County Wyoming.

As he drives around he takes photos and sends them to me.

An audience of 1 is not enough.

That's why I'm sharing them with you.
