This young lady has been hiking the Rocky Mountains from the bottom, all the way to the top, up in Canada.

She has finished most of the distance through Wyoming.

Now comes the hard part.

She has to walk up the Tetons, heading north in the chain, before crossing into Utah and Montana.

She explains the problems she's having in the videos below.

Video 79 in her series is day 1 on the Teton Trail. She meets with her parents in Jackson, who are among those who are helping to support her on this adventure.

Within the first few hours on the Teton Central trail, she passed a lot of people.

But it won't be that way for long, as most will never even think to try and venture where she is about to go.

She hikes trails called Hurricane and Center Punch, so far making good time. But this will change.

In the second video, above, you can see that there are no real trails in the areas she now treads, just signs pointing the way to gaps around the mountains.

There is a lot of backtracking to find a safe route.

She counts altitude, miles, and calories burned.

She starts rationing her food to make sure she does not run out.

She ends up backing off and taking alternate routes, as you will see in the video below.

Pushing in then being pushed back like that costs time, energy, and resources.

There is a lot of planning that goes into a walk this this and all of her plans here just upended.

She now has to think of a new attack with the time and food she has left.

The direct route over the peaks is out.

In the video above, she meets with her parents again, but is also stopped by someone who has been watching her videos.

That video fan gave her a peach, a nutrition bar, batteries, and some water to help her out.

From there, it is back towards the mountains as she tries to get up and over to Idaho.

She is still disappointed about not going for the direct route over the Tetons but thinks she made the right call, for safety.

The video below shows her taking a detour because of something she just needed to see.

It was a log hike over and back. it took her all day, but she wanted to see Parting Of The Waters.

That's a place up in these mountains where a creek splits in two.

Half the water heads east to the Atlantic ; the other half heads to the Pacific Ocean.

At this point, she is close to crossing out of Wyoming and into Idaho.

But close does not mean making it any time soon.

Those are rugged mountains.

Backroad Up The Bighorns

There are many ways to explore the Bighorn Mountain.

Not all of the backroads are dangerous.

Some are of good quality, and have the best views you'll ever see.
