Wyoming Shares A Really Odd Factoid With 2 Other States

I love finding out new and interesting facts about Wyoming. One thing I recently found out was that Wyoming, Oregon and Michigan are all about the same size.

Ok that doesn't really sound like that impressive of a fact, and really may not be interesting at all, but this is what's interesting. Alaska is SO BIG and Wyoming, Oregon and Michigan are so close in size, that you can fit 7 of those states inside Alaska.

Yea, 7 Wyomings or 7 Michigans or 7 Oregons would fit in 1 Alaska.

I know, I was pretty shocked too.

The wild part of the whole thing, is the extreme size of Alaska, with a total of 665,384 square miles. Which if you're following along at home, that means you could actually fit at least 2 of every state inside the 50th state.

On the list of state sizes, Oregon, Wyoming and Michigan come in 9, 10 and 11. They are close enough to the same size, you could fit them inside Alaska 7 times.

There are only 8 states that are bigger than Wyoming, Oregon and Michigan, but again, you could fit at least 2 of these states inside Alaska. These are the 8 bigger states.
