Don't Believe in the Car Fairy

A Florida man was arrested after he was spotted rummaging through the back of a Chevy van that had been left unlocked – because a stranger he'd never met gave him permission to do so.

James John Bishop told deputies he'd just taken a bus up from one town in the Florida Keys to a nearby resort because a woman he'd spoken to on the internet promised to give him a vehicle. He said he opened up the van because she never gave him specific instructions about what kind of vehicle she was offering or where he might find it.

The Chevy was apparently his second choice, since items stolen from a second car were found in his pocket. (South Florida Sun-Sentinel)

Super Drunk in Super Store

A Florida man was taken into custody after cops pulled him over for driving drunk – inside a Wal-Mart!

Timothy Carr aroused the suspicion of store security after he was spotted driving a motorized shopping cart erratically, plowing into several displays. At one point, he grabbed an alcoholic beverage off a shelf and began gulping it down while behind the "wheel."

When cops stopped Carr, he smelled strongly of alcohol and informed them that he didn't have the money to pay for his drink or the damage to the store, because he was a transient. He was charged with disorderly intoxication and retail theft. (WPTV)

A Whale of a Find

A British man is $65,000 richer after stumbling across a smelly rock off the coast of Northwest England.

Ken Wilman was walking his dog, Madge, when they found a stone-like object with a waxy texture and yellowish color in the surf. The stone in question is a rare form of whale vomit called ambergris, and it’s highly prized for its musky fragrance in perfume-making.

According to Australia’s Daily Telegraph, ambergris is worth so much because of its particular properties. Apparently, it’s hard to find an artificial substitute for whale puke.
