The holiday travel season is here, and if you're flying out of Casper Natrona County International Airport, you should be aware of the items you can and can't bring with you. You'd hate to waste time wrapping up an item, hauling it to the airport, only to have to take it back to the car, or worse than that, throw it into the trash.

There's no reason to worry, the airport just put out a list of items, and whether you can or can't take them on your flight. You may be surprised to learn that even though you can't carry some items in your carry-on, you may be able to pack them into your checked luggage.

Here's a rundown of some popular items you may want to take to the family members you're visiting that you can carry on the plane.

  • If you've spent hours in the kitchen baking and making Christmas candy, your time wasn't wasted. Items like cakes, pies, cookies, candy, or fruit and nut baskets can be taken through security and carried on the plane.
  • Are you afraid they won't have all the spices you'll need for Christmas dinner? You can carry those through security as well.
  • Were you responsible for providing the Christmas ham, but you found a great deal in Wyoming and couldn't pass it up? You can pack it up and take it with you. Either pre-cooked or frozen.
  • Want to show off the antlers from this year's harvest to the family? Take them with you. You can carry them on or check them. In this situation, even though you're allowed to carry them on, you should check with the airline to make sure there will be enough space in the overhead bin or under the seat for your trophy.

Just remember, you're going to have to lug these items through the airport in your carry-on bag, and it may be a better idea to put them into your checked luggage.

These items should be safely packed into your checked luggage.

  • A bottle of your world-famous homemade eggnog.
  • That bottle of Wyoming Whiskey you've been holding onto for your holiday get-together. (Or any other alcoholic beverage with more than 24% and less than 70% alcohol).
  • The jams, jellies, or preserves that you've been excited to give as gifts.
  • Any special sauces or syrups should be properly packaged and carefully placed for travel.
  • The Red Rider BB gun is being passed on to the next generation in the family.

If you're curious about an item you're planning to travel with, it's best to check before you get to the airport to see if you can take it on the plane. Remember, if you have an item that can't be taken on a plane, it can be confiscated or thrown away and could cause significant travel delays.
