A Helicopter Named Jolene Lands At CNCIA In Casper
When you look up into the sky around the Casper/ Natrona County International Airport, you're never really sure what you're going to see. You're likely going to hear it long before you see it, then the search is on.
Is it a bird?
Is it a plane?
Is it a blimp?
Is it a hot air balloon?
You never really know, but this time, if you were lucky enough, you caught a glimpse of a CH-47 that belongs to the Billings Flying Service. BFS operates seven CH-47s and has helped fight fires, not only in the US, but also worldwide. This chopper is a big boy that can lift to 26,000 lbs and holds over 1,000 gallons of fuel. When you're flying from Florida, you're going to have to stop and grab some fuel and stretch your legs.
According to the airport's social media accounts, that's exactly why Jolene made a pit stop in Casper.

When a chopper this big passes over Casper, you know people are going to notice. Some of the comments on the airport's social media post were questions that I was asking myself:
How long does the trip take from Florida to Billings?
It's 2,317.2 miles and takes about 34 hours if you're driving constantly from the middle of Florida to Billings. On average, a CH47 can travel 161.6 MPH and has a range of 414 miles. There are many factors to consider, but the idea is clear.
Why do I have Dolly Parton in my head?
Jolene is the CH47's name, and the crew told the airport crew that she steals the guys from their wives.
Another incredible sight provided by the friendly skies over Casper.
Billings Flying Service has been in the aviation industry for over 35 years and has become one of the leading names in the Chinook sector.
