Casper Trash Collection Delayed By Mechanical Failures

Mechanical problems with several trash trucks may be causing some delays on refuse pickup routes for residents in south-central Casper today, according to a news release from the City of Casper's solid waste division.

Thursday, customers in the area around Cottonwood School on West 15th Street, Bellaire Drive, and the Collins and Poplar areas did not have their trash collected as usual.

The solid waste division will collect trash in those areas today.

Customers in the Wolf Creek area may experience delay in their trash collection today, too.

The trash trucks will collect trash for those customers in the Wolf Creek area on Saturday. Residents should set their trash receptacles at the curb by 7 a.m. Saturday.

The solid waste division uses eight residential trash collection trucks known as side loaders. It normally operates five of these trucks daily. The division conducts scheduled maintenance and repairs equipment for the three trucks on their off days.

But Thursday, five trucks experienced mechanical failures leaving three trucks for Thursday’s routes, so the division was not able to collect trash from some customers.

The city's garage maintenance staff repaired two of the trucks Thursday evening, so the usual five trucks were on the collection routes Friday morning.

Today, one trash collection truck will pick up trash from Thursday route customers and four trucks will be servicing the regular Friday collection routes.

The Friday route includes Paradise Valley, Riverwest, Wolf Creek and the Sunrise areas.

The city's solid waste division apologizes for the inconvenience to customers and appreciates their understanding.
