Natrona County Library’s Exciting Program To Get Kids Interested In Reading
Growing up, sitting down and reading a book wasn't very high on my list of fun things to do. Once in a while, I would flip through a magazine or need to read something for school, but when I was home, I wanted to be outside exploring the world. I look back at those days and wish I had had something to inspire me to read more.

As an adult, I'm not saying I read all the time, but I'll read three or four books per year because I finally found something I'm interested in. That's one of the toughest parts for me, getting interested in something enough to want to stop everything else and sit down with a book.

Natrona County kids do have something that's encouraging them to explore the world of books and helping them find a subject that interests them: the Natrona County Library. There are always programs and fun opportunities for kids, families, and grown-ups at the library, and one coming up is perfect for helping your kids explore their imaginations and find a subject.

When I saw the Facebook event for the "Book Tasting" happening on Wednesday, February 18, I knew I wanted to let parents know about it, because this is exactly the program I needed as a kid. A "Book Tasting" isn't about reading a book while eating; it's a fun way for kids to find a reading subject they are interested in.
During the "Book Tasting," the room will have different types of books at each table, and the kids will be allowed to sample each book and discuss it before moving to the next table. It's an excellent way to help kids find the types of books they're excited to read.
This is an incredible idea, and I hope that you will take your kids to the Crawford Room at the Natrona County Library and let them be involved. For more details, you can check out the event page on the Natrona County Libraries Facebook page.
