We should always be suspicious when someone from out of state, writes about our state.

They usually get it wrong.

Mostly because - THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN HERE!

The website Alot Health published an article titled The Most Unusual Town in Every State.

So did they get it right?

I'd have to say that they picked a good candidate, for sure.

But I bet we can find someplace STRANGER!

They picked PhinDeli Wyoming. Formally known as Buford. Though I'm sure almost everyone in Wyoming still calls it Buford.

PhinDeli, Wyoming
Only in America could someone buy and sell a town, complete with its citizens. That's just what happened to Buford, Wyoming, which was almost completely devoid of life until its sole remaining family sold the entire town to a Vietnamese coffee company for $900,000 and renamed it PhinDeli. It sounds like a classic case of the American Dream being taken advantage of when local citizens find themselves in dire straits, unable to make ends meet and desperate enough to part with their community for the promise of economic stability. (Alot Health).

Having traveled the state I'd have to say there are plenty of other towns that will peak the WEIRD-O-METER if that's what they are looking for.

As for Buford, is it really a town?

At one point it actually was.

But now it's just a rest stop that pays people to live there and calls that its population.

The entire thing about the population being 1 was just a publicity stunt by the former owner of the place, and it worked.

But since then it has been bought and sold a couple of times and is being refurbished.

Honestly, now it's just a rest stop and fueling station on highway 80.

THE HISTORY & REBIRTH OF CHUGWATER WYOMING

Old Medicine Of The Chugwater Wyoming Drugstore

If you visit the tiny town of Chugwater Wyoming you'll find the newly restored Soda Fountain.

In fact it's Wyoming's oldest soda fountain and malt shot.

It's always worth stopping in for breakfast or lunch, or maybe a shake or malt.

The place was a drug store and soda fountain for the longest time.

Back then soda was actually used to cure an upset stomach.

So what sort of old medicines were left behind by Chugwater's last pharmacist?

It turns out, some of them are on display.
