Every family has secret recipes passed down from generation to generation, and my family's recipe is for cinnamon rolls.

These rolls became a staple in our family in the early 1980s when my Grandma owned a restaurant and her friend had a cinnamon roll recipe. Grandma perfected the recipe, and the roll became a customer favorite.

As the years passed, the legend of the 'roll' grew and became a tool used by my mom to bring happiness to others, even after the restaurant closed. It's estimated that mom makes and delivers over 4,000 rolls every year. She doesn't sell them; she gives them to whoever is on her mind that day. She uses the rolls as a way to make sure those people are doing ok.

Until now, no one else in the family has attempted to make them.

The last few weeks have been rough on my mom; she just had to have a total knee replacement and isn't able to be as active as usual. She needed some help with her cinnamon roll-making and distribution, so that's where I entered.

Having watched her make these rolls MANY times over the last 40 years, you'd think I would have the process down, but I guess I've never paid attention to every step. I didn't realize it took HOURS to make them, and I may have bitten off more than I could chew.

Luckily, mom and Grandma are here to guide me on my first cinnamon roll journey. This process lasted over 3 hours and churned out an impressive batch of incredible cinnamon rolls.

I admit I did a pretty good job on these cinnamon rolls. It may have been that I had some pretty good teachers guiding me on the journey.

Mom's mission is to help put a smile on everyone's face with these cinnamon rolls, so I wanted to share this recipe.
