How To Help Former WGFD Director Talbott’s Cancer Battle
A new study shows that Wyoming is the most charitable state in the U.S.
WalletHub Analyst Chip Lupo breaks it down for us.
Wyoming is the most charitable state, in large part because residents spend an average of 33 hours per year volunteering, the second-most in the country. The state also has the second-highest percentage of residents who volunteer, at around 39%. In addition, residents of the Equality State generously give money to charity, donating nearly 4% of their adjusted gross income on average, the second-highest percentage in the country. On top of that, Wyoming has the second-most Feeding America food banks per capita, and it shelters 89% of its homeless population.
With that in mind, an event is coming on November 22nd and 23rd to help former Wyoming Game and Fish Department Director Scott Talbott in his second battle with cancer.
Talbott, who grew up on a ranch near Laramie, spent 34 years with WGFD and as director from 2011 until his retirement in 2019. He then joined Safari Club International as the new guide and outfitter liaison.
Scott has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is receiving treatments at MD Anderson in Houston, TX.
If you, or someone you know, has ever battled cancer, you know there are a lot of unforeseen expenses involved. Those expenses can deplete your finances quickly, especially if you travel long distances.
Even though Scott is fortunate enough to have insurance, the treatments are being administered in Houston, TX. That means travel, housing, food, and other expenses are out-of-pocket. Already battling cancer treatments, not having to worry about the financial burdens would be a relief to the family.
If you'd like to help, there is a benefit banquet and Calcutta auction on November 22 at The Barn by Five Deuces and a shoot on November 23 at Casper Skeet Club—a team of four costs $550, which includes the shoot, ammo, and lunch. An auction will raise additional money for Scott's battle. To RSVP for the dinner, email Scott's sister, Betsy Debolt
Sign up for the shoot HERE. If you're unavailable to shoot or just want to help, a GO FUND ME page has been set up for donations.
