Fundraising Kicks Off For Mills’ Service And Sacrifice Park
It's an exciting time in Mills, as the city has plans to construct a one-of-a-kind park dedicated to veterans, active military, and all of our first responders called Service and Sacrifice Park.
According to Mills Mayor Leah Juarez, the Service and Sacrifice Park theme was inspired by the interactive displays at the National Museum of Military Vehicles' Dan Starks and will feature audio, video, lights, high-tech features such as benches that turn into speakers, and vibration plates in the ground to enhance the experience of special events throughout the year. On a regular basis, the park will be a shrine to the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting, with plaques highlighting the history of those who have sacrificed to serve others.
Right now, they are in the fundraising portion of the process, hoping to raise enough money to complete the project for the 4th of July celebration marking 250 years of freedom.
Their first big fundraising event is coming on February 28th at The Hangar in Bar Nunn. An evening of honor will be a night full of fun, auctions, raffles, dinner, and community with the sole purpose of raising money to fund the park and its amenities.
