Casper could get its first snow of the year this week — and it may be significant.

The National Weather Service in Riverton on Monday issued a winter storm watch for much of central Wyoming.

According to the weather service, Casper could receive between four and seven inches of snow Wednesday.

Forecasters say a strong cold front will reach early Wednesday. The front will bring rapidly decreasing temperatures southward through Wyoming. The weather service also predicts hazardous travel over mountain passes and area roadways as a result of the storm.
