It turns out that Bethany Hamilton, the inspiration behind the new movie, Soul Surfer, is a big fan of Carrie Underwood.  That's not too surprising considering that Carrie has her first supporting role in this feature film.

The movie opens nationwide on Friday.  It features Annasophia Robb as Hamilton.  It documents the real-life account of how Bethany, a competitive surfer, had her arm bitten off by a shark in her native Hawaii.  No word on if the actual shark was cast in the film.

Bethany recently sat down with CMT and explained that while not a country fan, "I'm more of a reggae girl.  But I'm obsessed with Carrie Underwood now.  She's incredible.  I'm always listening to her, and to 'Jesus, Take The Wheel.'"   Bethany adds, "Having Carrie play my friend Sarah Hill was such an honor for both of us.  We were both so stoked."

Annasophia actually does enjoy country music and even a little line-dancing action at the Grizzly Rose in Denver, where she admits she doesn't "know the names" of all the dances, but she "knows the steps."

Very cool!  Enjoy both the trailer from the movie and also Carrie's Jesus, Take The Wheel.
